Jane Alice Erwood Martin

Jane Alice Erwood Martin, 85, a lifelong resident Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 22, 2023 at Peak Resources in Cherryville, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, the youngest daughter of the late Willie Lee and Gertie Jones Erwood and was preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Donald Olan Martin and a son, Jerry Douglas Martin. Jane was also preceded in death by her siblings, Clinton Creedmore, Jennie Lynn, and Juanita Erwood. Jane was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Jane retired from Clevemont Mills after 40 years of service in the textile industry. She was an avid reader and studied her bible daily. Jane was a well known political activist in Kings Mountain and believed government should be held accountable to the people. She enjoyed learning and living the history of Kings Mountain and enjoyed sharing that history with others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her. 

SURVIVORS: Children: Pamela Martin Goforth (Blake), Shelby, NC, Brenda Martin, Kings Mountain, NC, and Donald Martin Jr. (Penny), Kings Mountain, NC

Grandchildren: Blake Goforth Jr. (Chase), Sallie Howard (Kris), Katherine Martin, and Rebecca Martin

Great Grandchildren: Georgia Howard, Madison Goforth, Zayden Howard, and

Ezekiel Howard

Special Niece and Nephew: Barbara Lynn Starnes (Don), and Pete Lynn (Nina)

Numerous other beloved nieces and nephews

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Reverend Ron Caulder officiating
