Jessie Hord Collins

Jessie Hord Collins, 97, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on April 09, 2024 at Belaire Health Care Center in Gastonia, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Thomas Zeno and Gazzie Sperling Hord and was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel David Collins Sr. Jessie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Hord Love and Nell Hord Barrett. Jessie worked in accounting for more than 30 years with Foote Mineral Company and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC. Always active, Jessie served on numerous committees at church and was a member of Gleamers Sunday School class, the Golden Fellowship, and the Senior Choir. Jessie served as a volunteer at Kings Mountain Hospital for 25 years and was recognized as a Special Angel in 2000 for volunteer of the year. She also served as the treasurer for more than 20 years. Other organizations include the Kings Mountain Woman's Club where she was recognized as Woman of the year in 2002 and Club Woman with a Heart in 2013. She was a member of Chapter AP-PEO, American Legion Auxiliary Post 155, and Bridge Club. She loved spending time on the go and loved traveling the world. Jessie was a special person who possessed a kind and generous heart. Her contributions to her family and the community as a whole will long be remembered by all those who knew her. The love she shared with her family will live on in the hearts of her loved ones for all time.

SURVIVORS: Children: David Collins (Lynn), Gastonia, NC and Denise Badgett (Alf), Concord, NC

Grandchildren: Josh Collins (Sarah), Alan Collins (Stephanie), Samantha Badgett, and Emily Badgett

Great Grandchild: Jackson Collins

Sister-in-law: Bett Williams

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dr. John Sloan officiating

VISITATION: Saturday, April 13, 2024 immediately following the service at Harris Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Private Family Interment at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC with Emily Badgett officiating
