Lester Ray Howell
Lester Ray Howell, 91, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 10, 2022 at Atrium Cleveland in Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late William Thomas and Sarah Jane Dixon Howell and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Joyce Marie Cline Howell. Ray was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Boyd, Robert, and Roy Howell and 3 sisters, Mable Teague, Grace Ledford, and Katherine Barrett. Ray was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church for more than 70 years. He retired from Kings Mountain District Schools where he worked in maintenance for 20 years. Ray enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, college softball and was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan. In his spare time, Ray loved working in his garden. He could often be found working on lawn mowers where his genius for small engine repair could be shared with the community at no cost. Ray was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his loving family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sons: Jeffrey Scott Howell and wife Rebecca and Mark Alan Howell and wife Lisa, both of Kings Mountain, NC
Sister: Betty Page, Kings Mountain, NC
7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren 
FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Lutheran Church with Reverend John Yost officiating
VISITATION: Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM prior to the service at St. Matthews
INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
