Mary Jane Owens, 76, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on July 23, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Broadus Hugh and Bonnie McGinnis Matthews and was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Micah Jane Owens, and her infant brother, David Wesley Matthews. Mary Jane was retired from Cleveland County Schools. She was a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Boyce Memorial ARP, and a current member of El Bethel UMC. Mary Jane was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She loved animals, especially dogs. Mary Jane was a wonderful cook and had an adventurous spirit. Always active, Mary Jane enjoyed taking day trips and traveling. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Her guidance, compassion, and love will be missed greatly by those left to cherish her memory.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at El Bethel UMC with Reverends Julie Roberts and Bruce Hobson officiating
VISITATION: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church
INTERMENT: Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
