Mona Hamrick Scism
Mona Hamrick Scism, 82, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on July 28, 2020 at Atrium Health in Shelby, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Wilburn and Mary Jane Cook Hamrick and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Jack Neal Scism. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Spud and Rick Hamrick. Mona was a lifelong member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and a member of various other committees. She served for more than thirty years on both the state and county Boards of Directors for North Carolina Farm Bureau. Mona loved playing Bingo and spending time at her vacation home in South Myrtle Beach. She was lovingly devoted to her husband, family and their farm. Mona had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. The family would like to thank the staff at the Shelby Life Enrichment Center for the care that was shown to Mona. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mona will be missed dearly by her family, church and many friends.

Grandchildren: Adam Floyd (Casey-Rae), Cherryville, NC, Jennifer Ash (Matthew), Oak Park, IL, Brittany Shaffer (Derek) Shelby, NC, Morgan Scism Kings Mountain, NC, Katy King (Heath), Shelby, NC and Johnna Hord (Cameron) Kings Mountain, NC
Great-Grandchildren: Emma-Rae Walker, Cheslynn Ash, Avery Floyd, Matthew Ash, Madelyn Shaffer, Jacklynn Hord and Grady King
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Tim Hendrick and Reverend Anita Ware officiating
INTERMENT: Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
